Who We Are
Weird Fonts (weirdfonts.com) is operated by Click Clack Labs LLC, a company based in the United States. We are the data controller for this site. You can reach us at hello@weirdfonts.com.
Information Collected When You Visit
You do not need an account to use Weird Fonts, and we do not ask for your name, your email address or payment details. Like every website, the site is delivered by hosting and content-delivery providers, which process standard request data (such as your IP address, your browser type, the page requested and the time of the request) to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. Information about how the site is used is collected as described under Analytics below.
What You Type and Save
Some tools let you enter your own content, such as a list of names, custom entries or the words for a story. That content is processed by your browser only. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.
To remember things between visits, tools keep data in your browser's local storage: items you saved, which results you have already seen, scores and streaks, your settings, and lists you typed in. This data never leaves your device. You can remove it at any time: most tools have a clear or reset button, and clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes all of it. The saved items page shows what you have saved.
When you create a share link, the result is written into the link itself, in the part after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of an address to any server, so what a share link contains does not reach us or our hosting provider when the link is opened; the page reads it in the browser. Anyone who has the link can read what it contains, so do not share a link that includes names or other personal details unless you mean to.
Advertising
This site shows no ads today. This page will be updated before that changes.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to count visits and to see which pages and tools are used. Where analytics cookies are on, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which last up to two years, to tell one visitor and one visit from another.
Google signals and advertising personalisation are switched off in our Google Analytics setup, and the advertising consent signals are always set to "denied". Before a page address is sent to Google Analytics we cut it down to the page itself: everything after a # is removed, and everything after a question mark except campaign tags (utm_source and the like), so the contents of a share link are not sent. Analytics events describe actions: which tool was used, how many times, and what kind of action it was (a new result, a copy, a print, a download, a share, a reset, or that you entered content of your own), with the tool's mode and whether the action worked. They never hold what you typed. If you accept analytics cookies, one event records that you said yes; a "no thanks" is not recorded as an event.
Data retention in Google Analytics is set to no longer than 14 months.
Cookies and Your Consent
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies are switched off until you choose, and a short message asks for your choice on your first visit, with two buttons: accept, or no thanks. If you do not accept, Google Analytics sets no cookies and sends only limited, cookieless signals (Google's Consent Mode v2, in its "advanced" form): a page was viewed and which actions were taken on it (as described under Analytics above), with no identifier that lasts beyond the page. Everywhere else no message is shown and analytics runs by default.
The full list this site uses is: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
To know whether you are in one of those places, the page asks the server that delivers it for the two-letter country code of your connection. The code is kept in your browser until you close the tab and is not sent to anyone else. If the country cannot be found, we treat your visit as if it came from one of the places on the list.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends this signal, our own Google tags treat it as an opt-out, everywhere: analytics cookies stay off, existing Google Analytics cookies are removed, and no message is shown.
Privacy choices. The "Privacy choices" link in the footer of every page reopens the choice for anyone, anywhere. Your answer is stored in your browser's local storage together with its date. We ask again after 365 days. If you switch analytics off, the Google Analytics cookies are removed.
On pages made for children, analytics cookies are never set and no message is shown, whatever you chose elsewhere on the site.
Other Service Providers
Vercel hosts the site and delivers its pages. Cloudflare runs the domain name service that points your browser to it. Google provides the analytics described above. They process the information described on this page on our behalf or as independent services, under their own terms.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to deliver the pages you ask for, to keep the site secure and working and to understand, in aggregate, which tools are used so that we can improve them. We do not build profiles of visitors. We do not sell personal information for money.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Because the site has no accounts and tool data stays in your browser, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. To make a request, write to hello@weirdfonts.com. We aim to reply within 30 days.
You can clear what a tool saved with its clear or reset button, where it has one, and everything at once by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. You can switch analytics cookies on or off at any time with the "Privacy choices" link in the footer, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser switches them off for you. Google also offers a browser add-on that turns Google Analytics off on every site.
U.S. State Privacy Rights
Some U.S. states give their residents rights to know, correct and delete personal information and to opt out of its sale, of its sharing for advertising, or of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Our own Google tags treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out. We aim to answer requests made under a U.S. state law within 45 days, and appeals within 60 days. To make a request, or to appeal a decision, write to hello@weirdfonts.com.
Children
Weird Fonts as a whole is not aimed at children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). Some pages are written for children or for classroom use; on those pages analytics cookies are never set. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children: there are no accounts, forms or comment boxes, and anything typed into a tool stays in the browser of the person who typed it.
Changes to This Policy
We update this page when the site, or a service it uses, changes, and before advertising or analytics is switched on or changed. The date at the top is the date of the latest revision.
