Questions and answers
Is a strawberry actually a berry?
No. By Wikipedia's account of the botany, a strawberry is an aggregate accessory fruit, and each seed on the outside is a fruit of its own, an achene. Bananas, grapes, tomatoes and cucumbers are berries. CLDR files the emoji under berry anyway.
Is there a strawberry jam or strawberry milk emoji?
No. CLDR files no emoji under jam, smoothie or milkshake. The combos here build them: Jam jar, no longer empty pairs Strawberry with Jar, which CLDR files under empty and nothing, and Strawberry milk adds Glass of milk.
Is there a strawberry symbol that is not an emoji?
Yes, since Unicode 17.0: U+1CEBF, Strawberry symbol, in the block Symbols for Legacy Computing Supplement. Unicode's names list says these characters are not emoji. It is new, so an empty box means your font lacks it. β¦ is the older stand-in.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The 25 emoji, their names, code points and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. Strawberry is U+1F353, the only entry of that file with strawberry in its name, printed between cherries and blueberries in the food-fruit subgroup. The search words are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml and https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotationsDerived/en.xml, main branch). CLDR files strawberry under berry, fruit and strawberry; blueberries is the only other emoji under berry, cherries and blueberries are the two under berries, and no emoji is filed under jam, smoothie, milkshake or punnet. Every character that is not an emoji was checked against UnicodeData.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt), and a note that names a character uses its name from that file. U+1CEBF Strawberry symbol: its age, Unicode 17.0, is from DerivedAge.txt; its block, Symbols for Legacy Computing Supplement, is from Blocks.txt; the heading Terminal graphic characters, the note that these characters are not emoji, and the other names Aldus leaf (U+2766) and hedera, ivy leaf (U+2767) are from NamesList.txt, all version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/). Wikipedia, Strawberry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry): in botany an aggregate accessory fruit and no berry, and what look like seeds are achenes; the garden strawberry dates from 1750s Brittany; the rose family; pine and ananassa both meaning pineapple; eaten with cream at the court of Henry VIII. Wikipedia, Berry (botany) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berry_(botany)): grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, bananas and kiwifruit are berries, strawberries are not, and cherries are drupes. Wikipedia, Rosaceae (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosaceae): apples, pears, cherries, peaches, strawberries and roses in one family.
