Solid, sideways and floral
Empty, solid and sideways hearts holds nine. For a sideways heart symbol copy ❥, a solid heart turned a quarter turn, or type <3. ♥, ❤ and ❣ have emoji forms too, so their tiles copy them with U+FE0E, the selector that keeps them plain text. ☙ and ❧ are mirror images, so they work as a pair.
Hearts that are really letters
Hearts borrowed from other scripts holds nine more. ღ is a Georgian letter, ෆ a Sinhala one, and ۵ is a digit, the five used with Persian and Urdu, which drew here as a heart upside down. Each takes the weight and colour of your text, and each needs a font for its script.

Questions and answers
How do I type a heart symbol in Word?
Type the code, then press Alt+X, a shortcut of the PC version. 2661 becomes ♡ and 2665 becomes ♥. Where Alt codes follow code page 437, holding Alt and typing 3 on the number pad also gives ♥. ♡ has no Alt code.
Is there an empty heart emoji?
No. No emoji name or CLDR search word mentions an empty or outlined heart. 🤍 is named white heart and is one of the colour hearts, added in Emoji 12.0. The outline is ♡, which is plain text and not an emoji.
Why does my heart turn red when I paste it?
♥ and ❤ each have an emoji form, and some apps pick it. The tiles here copy them with U+FE0E after the heart, which asks for the text form. ♡ and ❥ have no emoji form, so they never change.
Which heart points left?
Unicode has one, U+1F394 heart with tip on the left, but it drew as an empty box when this page was checked, so it is not in the grid. ❥ points right. ☙ and ❧ are floral hearts that face each other.
