How it works

For bow emoji copy and paste there is one candidate, 🎀, and Unicode calls it Ribbon. The other 92 entries are bows made from whatever was lying around: the number 21 in Odia digits, two phonetic letters, a database operator, a sign nobody can read.

Emoji first, then text

Ribbon emoji copy and paste ends at the first group: ten emoji, 🎀 in front. Text bows answers bow symbol copy and paste with 17 characters and pairs, none an emoji, so each takes the colour of your text. Bow kaomoji come in two kinds: 14 wearing a bow and 8 taking one. The tone row changes Person bowing only, and Text style turns only Reminder ribbon and the two curly loops into plain characters.

Round a name or a word

Bow wrappers for a name holds 13 frames: paste one, then type over the word name. There is no bow font generator here: Unicode has no alphabet made of bows. What passes as bow font copy and paste is styled letters with a bow at each end, and Words in a bow font has eight.

Tips
  • Pink bow emoji copy and paste has one honest answer, 🩷🎀. The ribbon's colour belongs to the device's emoji font, so the heart states the colour instead. 🩵🎀 and 🖤🎀 cover blue and black.
  • For a quick bow emoji copy paste, give the search box one word: tie finds 17 entries, sorry 5, pink 3. The symbols copy and paste bow by bow.
  • For a kaomoji bow that means sorry, send m(_ _)m. _| ̄|○ and orz are not bows: Wikipedia's list of emoticons files both under despair.

Questions and answers

Is 🎀 a bow or a ribbon?

Officially a ribbon: that is its Unicode name. CLDR, Unicode's list of search words, gives it celebration and ribbon. It files six other emoji under bow, among them wrapped gift, folded hands and bow and arrow. For ribbon symbol copy and paste with no emoji in it, take ⋈ or ୨୧.

What is ୨୧ really?

The number 21 in the script of the Odia language: Oriya digit two, then Oriya digit one, in Unicode's older spelling. For bow symbol copy paste, this is probably the pair you pictured. Much of what travels as bow symbols copy and paste is borrowed writing: ʚɞ is two phonetic letters, and ⋈ is the natural join of database maths.

Why did my number land inside the bow?

You picked ᡣ𐭩. Its second half, Inscriptional Pahlavi letter yodh, runs right to left, so a digit typed after it lands on the letter's far side. Here it is with a 7 typed after it: ᡣ𐭩7 and the 7 is not at the end. Put a word between the bow and any digits.

Bow and ribbon emoji 10

  • Ballet shoes U+1FA70. Shoes that tie with ribbons. The usual neighbour of the bow in a coquette bio. Emoji 12.0.
  • Bow and arrow U+1F3F9. The other bow. CLDR files it under bow, archery and Sagittarius. Emoji 1.0.
  • Curly loop U+27B0. One loop of ribbon. The notes in the Unicode names list give it a second name, kururi. Emoji 0.6.
  • Double curly loop U+27BF. Two loops, which is most of a bow. Emoji 1.0.
  • Heart with ribbon U+1F49D. A heart tied up like a present. CLDR files it under ribbon and valentine. Emoji 0.6.
  • Knot U+1FAA2. A bow before anyone pulled the loops through. CLDR lists tie and twine. Emoji 13.0.
  • Person bowing U+1F647. The third bow. CLDR files it under bow, bowing and sorry. Emoji 0.6.
  • Reminder ribbon U+1F397 U+FE0F. A looped awareness ribbon, not a bow. The only emoji here with a text form, so the Text style switch changes this one and nothing else. Emoji 0.7.
  • Ribbon U+1F380. The bow emoji. Unicode names it ribbon, and the CLDR search words for it are celebration and ribbon: bow is not one of them. The colour belongs to the emoji font of whatever device shows it, so no copy of it comes in another shade. Emoji 0.6.
  • Wrapped gift U+1F381. The bow on a box. CLDR does list bow for this one. Emoji 0.6.

Text bows 17

  • Black bowtie U+29D3 Black bowtie. Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-B block, Unicode 3.2. The bowtie filled in.
  • Bowtie U+22C8 Bowtie. Mathematical Operators block, Unicode 1.1. A bowtie by name. Its day job is the natural join of database maths: CLDR lists it under bowtie, natural and join.
  • Bowtie, left half black U+29D1 Bowtie with left half black. Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-B block, Unicode 3.2. Half filled, for a two-tone bow.
  • Bowtie, right half black U+29D2 Bowtie with right half black. Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-B block, Unicode 3.2. The mirror of the one before it.
  • Closed curve bow U+2AA9 U+2AA8. Greater-than closed by curve above slanted equal, then less-than closed by curve above slanted equal. Supplemental Mathematical Operators block, Unicode 3.2. Two comparison signs set back to back. Reads as a bow or as a wrapped sweet.
  • Closed epsilon bow U+029A U+025E. Latin small letter closed open e, then Latin small letter closed reversed open e. IPA Extensions block, Unicode 1.1. Two phonetic letters that mirror each other; the Unicode names list calls them closed epsilon and closed reversed epsilon. Also read as a pair of wings, which is why a heart or a name fits between them.
  • Half bowtie, open to the left U+22CA Right normal factor semidirect product. Mathematical Operators block, Unicode 1.1. The closing half of the pair.
  • Half bowtie, open to the right U+22C9 Left normal factor semidirect product. Mathematical Operators block, Unicode 1.1. A bowtie with its right side left open. Set it before a name and its mirror after.
  • Linear A ribbon sign U+1065A Linear A sign A306. Linear A block, Unicode 7.0. A sign from Linear A, the script of Minoan Crete that nobody has deciphered, so what it meant is unknown. It is here because it looks like a charm hung on a ribbon. It needs a font for a historic script, so expect an empty box on some devices.
  • Mongolian and Pahlavi bow U+1863 U+10B69. Mongolian letter sibe ka, then Inscriptional Pahlavi letter yodh. Mongolian block, Unicode 3.0; Inscriptional Pahlavi block, Unicode 5.2. The Pahlavi half is a right-to-left letter, so a number typed after the pair lands in the middle of the bow. Put a word between the bow and any digits.
  • OCR bow tie U+2445 OCR bow tie. Optical Character Recognition block, Unicode 1.1. A small bow made for forms that machines read. The Unicode names list also calls it unique asterisk.
  • Odia and Bengali bow U+0B68 U+09CE. Oriya digit two, then Bengali letter khanda ta. Oriya block, Unicode 1.1; Bengali block, Unicode 4.1. The same left loop, with a Bengali letter for the right one.
  • Odia bow U+0B68 U+0B67. Oriya digit two, then Oriya digit one. Oriya block, Unicode 1.1. The usual text bow is the number 21 written in Odia digits, a script Unicode still spells Oriya.
  • Telugu and Bengali bow U+0C68 U+09CE. Telugu digit two, then Bengali letter khanda ta. Telugu block, Unicode 1.1; Bengali block, Unicode 4.1. A Telugu two and a Bengali letter: two scripts with no reason to meet in real writing.
  • Theta and rho bow U+1D717 U+1D71A. Mathematical italic theta symbol, then mathematical italic rho symbol. Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, Unicode 3.1. Two italic Greek letters from the maths alphabets. The theta makes the left loop, the rho the right one and its tail.
  • Vertical bowtie U+29D6 White hourglass. Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-B block, Unicode 3.2. Named white hourglass, and listed in the Unicode names list as vertical bowtie: a bowtie stood on end.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The emoji, their names, code points and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. Emoji search words are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml and https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotationsDerived/en.xml, main branch). That list files the word bow under wrapped gift, bow and arrow, folded hands and the three bowing people, and not under ribbon; the build stops if that changes. Which characters have an emoji form, and the text-style sequences that keep them plain, come from emoji-data.txt (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/emoji/emoji-data.txt) and emoji-variation-sequences.txt (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/emoji/emoji-variation-sequences.txt), version 18.0.0. Every character was checked against UnicodeData.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt): the code points and the character names in the notes come from that file, names in sentence case. Block names come from Blocks.txt (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/Blocks.txt) and the Unicode version each character arrived in from DerivedAge.txt (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/DerivedAge.txt), both version 18.0.0. Other names and uses of a character come from the annotations in NamesList.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/NamesList.txt). That is where closed epsilon, unique asterisk, vertical bowtie and kururi come from. That the Pahlavi letter runs right to left is its Bidi_Class (R) in UnicodeData.txt; how a digit after it is reordered follows the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm (https://www.unicode.org/reports/tr9/) and was checked by drawing the string on macOS. That Linear A belongs to Minoan Crete and is undeciphered is from Wikipedia's article Linear A (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_A). Wikipedia's List of emoticons (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emoticons) records m(_ _)m as a kowtow of respect or a dogeza apology, and orz and its fullwidth original as despair, with the head on the ground. Which characters make a bow, and every kaomoji, wrapper, styled word, divider and combo, are this site's own choice and assembly; the combo names are our own. All sources were checked on 2026-09-19.
