Lilac finds the hyacinth
Tap a tile to copy it. Search reads Unicode names and CLDR search words: sprout finds Seedling and Brown mushroom, lilac finds Hyacinth, dandelion finds Blossom. For palm tree emoji copy and paste, type palm: the tree comes up with a beach combo that uses it.
What Unicode counts as a plant
Search plant and three of the four trees vanish. CLDR files 17 of the 29 under that word, and Palm tree is the only tree among them. Leafless tree, from Emoji 16.0, is the newest, so test it where it is going.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The emoji, their names, code points and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. The first 29 items are every entry of the subgroups plant-other (17) and plant-flower (12) of that file; the page puts plant-other first so that it opens on the seedling, and each subgroup keeps the file's order; 18 of them carry its oldest label, Emoji 0.6, and leafless tree, Emoji 16.0, is the newest. The 10 that follow are plants and plant tools the file keeps in other subgroups (event, food-vegetable, game, other-symbol, place-building, tool). The search words are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml and https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotationsDerived/en.xml, main branch). CLDR lists plant for 20 emoji, 17 of them among the 29 (palm tree is the only tree) plus chestnut, pine decoration and shovel; tree for six (the four trees, Christmas tree and tanabata tree); flower for twelve (every flower but rosette, plus flower playing cards); leaf for six (five here and the Japanese symbol for beginner); garden for eight, none of them in Unicode's plant groups (one, root vegetable, is a food). No emoji name and no CLDR search word contains lily. Tulip, Lotus and Fleur-de-lis also answer to lily in this page's search: that one word is ours, not CLDR's. Text forms are left off on purpose (the page is emoji only); rosette, shamrock and fleur-de-lis have one in emoji-variation-sequences.txt. Wikipedia: botanists put the tulip in Liliaceae, the lily family (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip); fleur and lis are French for flower and lily (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleur-de-lis); water lily is a loose everyday name some people give the lotus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelumbo_nucifera). The 12 combos and their names are this site's own. All sources were checked on 2026-09-19. Licence: own work: the selection, the combo names, the text drawings and the notes are ours. Emoji names, code points and search words are Unicode and CLDR data, used under the Unicode License v3 (https://www.unicode.org/license.txt).
