This serif font generator swaps each letter for a serif mathematical character: bold italic, italic or bold. Non-bold italic Greek exists with serifs only, and only bold has digits. Some apps strip or block these characters, and screen readers may read them badly.

No plain serif, but the only italic Greek
Unicode's table of mathematical styles lists plain, upright and serifed first, then says those letters are the ordinary ones. So a plain serif line is whatever typeface your app uses. Sans-serif got an upright alphabet of its own at U+1D5A0; serif did not. In return serif holds the only italic Greek that is not bold: type π, copy 𝜋.
Tips
The italicized serif font borrows its h: Unicode already had one as the Planck constant, U+210E, so that letter is a physics symbol.
For a line with numbers, copy Serif bold. Italic and bold italic have no digits, so chapter 12 keeps a plain 12.
Questions and answers
Is this a real serif font?
No font is involved. Each letter becomes a separate character made for mathematical variables, such as Mathematical bold capital A, U+1D400, added in Unicode 3.1 (2001). The reader's device supplies the typeface, and one without these characters shows empty boxes.
Can I type Greek letters?
Yes. Serif bold italic and Serif italic hold 49 Greek letters each, so π comes back as 𝝅 or 𝜋. The Serif bold row leaves Greek plain; upright bold Greek is on the bold text page.
What happens to accented letters?
The letter is styled and its accent kept as a combining mark, so é becomes a serif e plus an acute. How that sits depends on the reader's font. Every i and j is soft dotted: a correct renderer drops the dot under an accent.
Does the serif font translator work backwards?
Not here. All 264 characters carry a compatibility mapping to their plain letter or digit, so normalization form NFKC folds a line back. A search box or sign-up form that applies it reads serif bold as plain, so a styled name can come back plain.

How this list was compiled: All 264 rows were generated by a script from the Unicode Character Database, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt), and the script stops unless every name is the one expected, every row carries a <font> decomposition back to its plain letter or digit, and no row has a case partner of its own. Ages come from https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/DerivedAge.txt, blocks from https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/Blocks.txt and the soft-dotted flag on every i and j from https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/PropList.txt. The list is the three alphabets that the standard draws with serifs and sets against its sans-serif ones: mathematical bold (U+1D400 to U+1D433), mathematical italic (U+1D434 to U+1D467) and mathematical bold italic (U+1D468 to U+1D49B), 52 letters each, plus the ten bold digits (U+1D7CE to U+1D7D7). The italic run has one hole, U+1D455, which is not a character: the italic h is U+210E, Planck constant, which NamesList.txt (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/NamesList.txt) describes as simply a mathematical italic h. Table 22-2 of the core specification (https://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode18.0.0/core-spec/chapter-22/, section 22.2) is the source for three statements on the page: the plain upright serifed alphabet is the ordinary letters, only bold has digits, and the glyphs in the code charts are not prescriptive for font design. The same section is the source of the notes on the italic v and z and on the zero. Added on 2026-09-20 from the same file: the two slanted Greek alphabets, mathematical italic (inside U+1D6E2 to U+1D71B) and mathematical bold italic (inside U+1D71C to U+1D755), 49 letters each (24 capitals and 25 small letters with the final sigma), which no other page on this site lists. The same script confirms that the file holds no sans-serif italic Greek and no plain sans-serif Greek, so slanted Greek that is not bold exists with serifs only; Table 22-2, read again on 2026-09-20, says the same: sans-serif italic is Latin only. Left out on purpose: the upright bold Greek (on the bold text page), the nabla, the partial differential and the variant letter symbols of those Greek runs (nobody types them), the dotless italic i and j, and the sans-serif, script, Fraktur, double-struck and monospace alphabets, which have pages of their own.
