Four ways to lose focus
Blur is a Gaussian blur, named after the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss; Strength of the look sets its spread, from under 1% of the type size to over 3%. Motion blur smears sideways and keeps a sharp copy on top. Soft glow sets crisp letters on a blurred halo. VHS glitch slides a cyan copy left and a red one right.
Why New look never deals Blur
New look leaves plain Blur out: the tool scores each design for crisp edges, and a blurred one has none. Choose Blur under Look and ignore the line saying the colours are hard to see. A blurry font generator needs heavy letters: Archivo Black at full strength still reads, while thin Work Sans fades to a grey smudge.
Tips
- Bebas Neue sets a line about 0.6 times as wide as Archivo Black, so it comes out bigger.
- Soft glow's halo is white in Black, so light backgrounds hide it. Use White or Hot pink on Night blue.
Questions and answers
Can a blurred text generator hide a spoiler or a password?
No. The saved SVG keeps your words as text, so anyone who opens the file reads them, and the PNG stays legible by design. To hide words in a picture, cover them with a solid bar in an image editor, which blocks them out completely.
Can I copy and paste blurry text?
Not as characters: Unicode has no blurred letters, because blur is how a program draws text. Once you type, Copy picture puts the PNG on your clipboard. For a smudge that pastes as text, stacked marks from the zalgo text generator come nearest.
Which blur still reads on a small thumbnail?
Motion blur, because a sharp copy sits on top of the streak. VHS glitch holds up too, since only the coloured copies move. Plain Blur has no sharp layer to fall back on, so keep it for a few big words.
