How it works
This chrome font generator fills each letter with a silver gradient split by a near-black horizon line. Eight fonts take it, and Gold, Ice and Holographic sit beside Chrome under Look.

Sky, horizon, ground
Read the gradient as a mirror outdoors: sky on top, white fading to blue-grey. At 52% of the line's height it drops to near-black, the horizon, then four points lower flashes pale and settles into ground grey. Each line gets its own horizon. On Arch and Wave each letter gets one, tilted with it.
Thinner than the real thing
Chrome plating is a layer of chromium, usually over bright nickel; Wikipedia puts a decorative layer at 0.05 to 0.5 micrometres, hence the sample, Mostly Nickel. Here it is a gradient, a dark outline and a shadow. Under More options, Strength of the look moves the outline and shadow, never the gradient. On Black, untick Print as an outline (saves ink) to print the chrome.
Tips
- Capitals plate better: in Yellowtail, Racing Sans One and Bagel Fat One the horizon sits three quarters up small letters.
- Colours shows only on 3D block, Plain and Holographic; Steel with 3D block is a matte grey casting.
- Only Russo One carries Cyrillic; the name means Russian.
Questions and answers
Can I copy and paste from a chrome text generator?
As a picture, yes: once you type, Copy picture puts a PNG on your clipboard. As letters, no: plain text carries no colour, and chrome needs five inside every letter. For styled letters that paste, use the different font generator.
Can I get gold chrome or blue chrome?
Partly. Gold is built the same way in yellow, with a darker band at 55%. Ice is the blue one, but it fades white to deep blue with no horizon and reads as frost. Holographic runs pastels sideways. Nothing tints the Chrome gradient itself.
Which font looks like a car badge?
Yellowtail, a flat brush script after 1930s sign lettering. For the science fiction kind use Orbitron, whose notes joke that in films about the future every other font was lost in the apocalypse.
