Keeping the shapes in one piece

Anything taller than one line needs a monospaced font and its spaces left alone. The cat ASCII art page explains why, and what Markdown does to the 20 pieces here that contain a backslash. Where spaces get folded, use Squash-proof: 8 pieces, among them a ghost, a pumpkin and Eyes in the dark, a solid block with no spaces at all.

Tips
  • Ghost with a sign to edit comes first: type over BOO, 7 characters at most, between the sign's two bars.
  • Gravestone to edit says MY WEEKEND, 10 characters at most; Trick or treat bag to edit, two lines of 13.
  • Large carved pumpkin, 13 lines by 28 columns, has a face made of spaces: paste it only where spaces survive.

Questions and answers

Why is there no skull on this page?

Skulls have a page to themselves, ASCII art skull, so the two gravestones here are plain. Cats are rationed too: one black cat, back arched, tail straight up. A ghost or pumpkin that is a single character is on Halloween emojis.

Which pieces are short enough for a bio or a status?

Five are a single line: Boo with eyes at 7 characters, Wrapped sweet at 11, Bats in the distance at 19, Spider on one line at 20 and Broomstick on one line at 28. None has two spaces together.

Can I change the faces?

Yes. In Three ghosts, three moods the eyes are o, a hyphen and a caret: swap any. In Eyes in the dark, (-) in place of (o) closes an eye. Small pumpkin, 3 lines has ^v^ for a face; o_o makes it worried.

How this list was compiled: Every piece was drawn for this page and checked in a monospaced font on 2026-09-19; none is copied from an archive or another site. The set starts from the four things the night is drawn with, ghosts, pumpkins, bats and spiders, and adds a witch's kit, three treats and a handful of scenes. There is no skull, because skulls have a page of their own, and the one cat is a black cat with its back arched.
