Text art is a picture made of characters you can type. Strictly, ASCII art keeps to the 95 printable characters of ASCII, and the name gets used loosely for any picture built from text.

Both kinds are here, one subject to a page, every piece drawn for this site and sorted by height from a single line up. Tap a piece and all of it is copied, line breaks included. Whether it arrives looking like a cat comes down to two things. It wants a monospaced font, where every character takes the same width, because a proportional one slides the columns apart. And it wants its spaces: left to itself a web page folds a run of spaces into one, so the pages mark the pieces drawn with no runs of spaces as Squash-proof. Every piece states its lines and columns, so you know what fits before you paste.
