A page about a single emoji also holds what travels with it: the near misses people mistake for it, text faces built from ordinary characters, and ready-made combos with names. Hands and people follow the skin tone you pick, and the choice carries into the combos. Names, code points and search words come from Unicode's emoji list, version 18.0, and the CLDR annotations. That list gives its smileys and emotion group 172 entries and its people and body group 2,430, of which 2,040 are one of the other 390 with skin tones applied. A few things people ask for are not emoji at all. Those pages say so in the first line, then offer the closest real characters.
