Search by symptom

Type a symptom in the search box. It reads CLDR's words, so fatigued finds Face with bags under eyes and lazy finds Sloth. More options holds the skin tones, for Person in bed, Person getting massage and three combos.

What survives the trip

Face with bags under eyes dates from Emoji 16.0 and Low battery from 14.0, so an older phone shows an empty box in their place. =_=, -_- and |-O are plain ASCII. _(:3ใ€โˆ )_ needs a font with a Japanese corner bracket.

Tips
  • For a groan rather than a nap, send Weary face: Emojipedia calls Tired face similar, but with scrunched eyes.
  • Sleepy face is not crying: its nose bubble is a manga sign for sleep, though CLDR lists crying and sad.
  • Yawning face carries bored and whatever among its CLDR words, so under somebody's long story it reads as an insult.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The 30 emoji, their names, code points, skin tones, subgroups and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. The search words quoted in the notes are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml, main branch). The group Filed under tired is every emoji to which that file gives the search word tired: 9 in all. The script also checks that exhausted is listed for two emoji only (Face exhaling, Face with bags under eyes) and that fatigued, drained and lazy are listed for one each. The text forms come from emoji-variation-sequences.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/emoji/emoji-variation-sequences.txt). The other emoji, the 14 text faces and the 14 combos are this site's own choice, and the combo names are our own. Every character in a text face was checked against UnicodeData.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt), and a note that names a character uses its name from that file. Wikipedia's List of emoticons records (=_=) as tired, (-_-)zzz as sleeping and |-O as bored or yawning (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emoticons). Emojipedia describes the drawings: the bubble on Sleepy face as a snot bubble that marks a tired or sleeping character in anime and manga (https://emojipedia.org/sleepy-face), and Tired face as Weary face with scrunched eyes (https://emojipedia.org/tired-face).
