Around the emoji sit plain characters for places that refuse emoji, ready-made greeting lines, a few kaomoji, text art and named combos. The facts come from Unicode's emoji list, version 18.0. It has an event section of 21 emoji, which opens with a jack-o-lantern, a Christmas tree and fireworks. The search words are odder. CLDR, Unicode's list of them, files one emoji under winter, the leafless tree, and two under summer: a beer mug and a speedboat. Thanksgiving gets the turkey and nothing else. No emoji is named for a leprechaun, a dreidel, a candy cane or Easter. Each of those pages admits it up front and hands over the nearest real characters instead.
