CLDR, Unicode's list of search words, files two emoji under summer: a beer mug and a speedboat. Neither is the sun. So Sun sits first of 75 tiles, U+2600, with the official two close behind. That is summer emojis copy and paste, sunscreen included.

What CLDR thinks summer is
The speedboat also answers to lake, luxury and billionaire, and the beer mug to octoberfest. Sun gets sunny, bright and rays. CLDR files 13 emoji under beach, three of them surfers and two of them whales. Umbrella on ground is not one, although Unicode's own notes call it bathing beach.
Words with no emoji
No emoji is named for a popsicle or a sandcastle, and CLDR files nothing under lemonade or vacation. Summer text art draws the first two and the combo Lemonade, some assembly supplies the parts. Typing vacation or holiday finds eight tiles we tagged ourselves. Ask CLDR for holiday and it offers three members of the Claus family.
Tips
Summer symbols copy and paste lives in Summer symbols, no emoji: βΌ is White sun with rays, and β is the one character named Sun.
The only character with summer in its name is a mahjong tile, U+1F027, in the same section. Whether it shows depends on a device's fonts.
Twelve tiles, Sun among them, have a text form: Text style makes them plain characters.
Questions and answers
Which emoji does Unicode file under summer?
Two. CLDR lists the word for Beer mug and Speedboat and nothing else. Sun with face gets beach, heat and sunshine, and Lotion bottle is the only emoji under sunscreen. Neither gets summer. We filed all 75 tiles under it here, which seemed fairer.
Is there a popsicle emoji?
No. No emoji is named popsicle or ice lolly, and CLDR has no search word for either. The nearest are Soft ice cream and Shaved ice; ice cream emoji has the rest. The Ice lolly in the text art is nine lines of ASCII.
Which tiles are safe on an old phone?

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The emoji, their names, code points and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. The search words are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml and https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotationsDerived/en.xml, main branch). CLDR lists the word summer for two emoji, beer mug and speedboat, and not for the sun; the first group is the sun, the sun with face and those two. It lists beach for thirteen emoji, and umbrella on ground is not one of them. It lists sunscreen for lotion bottle only, shades for smiling face with sunglasses only, resort for sailboat only and picnic for basket only. It lists nothing under vacation, sandcastle, popsicle, lolly, lemonade, barbecue, sunburn or sprinkler. The beach, water, heat, food and outdoors groups are our own choice of what a summer caption needs. The text forms come from emoji-variation-sequences.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/emoji/emoji-variation-sequences.txt). Every character that is not an emoji was checked against UnicodeData.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt), and a note that names a character uses its name from that file. UnicodeData.txt has one character with summer in its name, Mahjong tile summer, one of four season tiles. The Unicode name of the sun emoji (Black sun with rays), its gloss clear weather, the gloss bathing beach on Umbrella on ground, marina or yacht harbour on Sailboat, compass on White sun with rays, alchemical symbol for gold on Sun, starburst on Sixteen pointed asterisk and degrees centigrade on Degree Celsius come from NamesList.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/NamesList.txt). The meanings of the two Han characters are the kDefinition values of the Unihan database, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/Unihan.zip). The 12 lines, 5 ASCII drawings and 9 combos are this site's own work: the emoji in them are fetched by name from emoji-test.txt and the drawings were made for this page.
