Copy the face, or search the menu

For yum emoji copy and paste, press Copy under the big character, or tap any tile. Search reads Unicode names and CLDR search words, so ramen finds Steaming bowl and pudding finds Custard. Pick a skin tone under More options and Cook follows it, as do three of the combos.

Which tongue face says what

Unicode files six faces in its subgroup face-tongue, and Face savoring food is the first. Only that one is about food. Squinting face with tongue is the opposite: CLDR lists taste for it, beside gross and horrible. Winking face with tongue gets joke and funny, and Money-mouth face gets paid. The text faces built on an Arabic letter need a font for that script, while :-b and (^~^) are plain ASCII.

Tips
  • CLDR files 13 emoji under dessert. Pie is not one of them: its search words include meat as well as apple and pumpkin.
  • Face savoring food takes no skin tone. Cook does, and Compliments to the chef follows the tone you pick.
  • For a meal that went right, Full marks adds Hundred points to the face. CLDR lists full for both halves.

Questions and answers

Which emoji is the yummy emoji?

Face savoring food, U+1F60B. Unicode's character name is Face Savouring Delicious Food. CLDR, the Unicode project's list of search words for emoji, files it under yum, yummy, delicious, tasty, savor, hungry and full, and tasty belongs to this face alone.

Is the drooling face a yum emoji?

Not by its search words. CLDR gives Drooling face two, drooling and face, and Unicode files it with the sleepy faces, not the tongue faces. Tongue is the other near miss: CLDR lists lick and slurp for it and for nothing else.

Is there a chef's kiss emoji?

No. No emoji has chef in its name. CLDR lists chef for Cook, Man cook, Woman cook and Kitchen knife, and files none of them under kiss. The stand-in here is Kiss for the cook: Cook, then Face blowing a kiss.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed by hand. The 46 emoji, their names, code points, skin tones, subgroups and Emoji version numbers come from emoji-test.txt, version 18.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/emoji/emoji-test.txt); names are the CLDR short names printed in that file, in sentence case. The search words quoted in the notes are from the CLDR English annotations (https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotations/en.xml and https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/common/annotationsDerived/en.xml, main branch), and the script refuses to build if CLDR does not list a quoted word for that emoji. It also checks that yum, yummy and delicious are given to Face savoring food and Fork and knife and to nothing else, that tasty and savor are given to the face alone, that no emoji name contains yum, tasty, delicious or chef, that the subgroup face-tongue has six faces with Face savoring food first, that dessert is given to 13 emoji (12 of the 14 in the subgroup food-sweet, plus Dango; Pie and Honey pot are the two without it), that chef is given to Cook, its two gendered forms and Kitchen knife, and that lick and slurp are given to Tongue alone. The Unicode character names quoted in the notes (Face savouring delicious food, Hocho, Salt shaker, Curry and rice) are from UnicodeData.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/UnicodeData.txt), and every character in a text face was checked against the same file. The text forms come from emoji-variation-sequences.txt, version 18.0.0 (https://www.unicode.org/Public/18.0.0/ucd/emoji/emoji-variation-sequences.txt). Wikipedia's List of emoticons records :-b, :b, =p and the thorn face as tongue sticking out, cheeky or playful (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emoticons). The other six text faces, the choice of savoury food and the 14 combos are this site's own, the combo names are our own, and the tiles of our own text faces describe the shape and claim no recorded meaning.
