Smiley faces opens with ☺, whose Unicode entry carries the alias have a nice day! Lightning bolts starts with ϟ, an old Greek letter that happens to be bolt-shaped, and Checkerboard holds 🙾 and the block pieces ▚ ▞, which make a checked band when repeated.

What is the preppy lightning bolt symbol?
The thin text bolt is ϟ, Greek small letter koppa. Unicode's names list says modern Greek still uses it for the number 90. The yellow emoji bolt is ⚡, high voltage, and ☇ is Unicode's own lightning sign.
Is there a preppy emoji?
No emoji is named preppy, and CLDR, the list of emoji search words, files none under it. The set here is our own choice: the ribbon, the pink heart, cherry blossom, cherries, tennis and a beach day.
How do I make a checkerboard in text?
Copy ▚▞▚▞▚▞▚▞ from Preppy dividers, or repeat ▚ and ▞ yourself: each fills two opposite corners of its square. 🙾 is a whole checker board in one character, but it arrived in Unicode 7.0 and older phones show a box.
