How it works

Type your words and this rainbow font generator paints them red to purple in Lilita One, a fat, slightly narrow face. New look deals 16 designs in eight thick fonts: rainbow, holographic, sunset, candy stripes and a two-colour fade.

Create rainbow text for a sign or a post

Type up to 120 characters. Enter starts a new line, four at most. Press New look, or set Font and Look yourself. Download PNG gives 2400 by 1200 pixels and Download SVG stays sharp on a poster. For a sticker, set Background to Transparent and leave Decoration on None: the file is trimmed to the letters.

One rainbow a line, or one a letter

On Straight, each line gets one rainbow from its first letter to its last, so two lines get one each. On Arch and Smile, every letter carries all six colours. Sunset fade runs top to bottom instead. Strength of the look thickens the outline on Rainbow and widens the stripes on Candy stripes.

Tips
  • Rainbow's six colours follow the six-stripe Pride flag's order, red to violet, but run left to right.
  • Holographic is pale mint, pink and lilac. Give it the Black background: on White the letters all but vanish.
  • Seven fonts are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, Luckiest Guy under Apache 2.0. The saved SVG says which.

Questions and answers

Can I copy and paste rainbow text?

Not as letters: a typed letter carries no colour, and the app that shows it decides that, which is why pasted words turn black. As a picture, yes: Copy picture puts the PNG on your clipboard, to paste wherever a photo goes.

Is this a multicolor font I can install?

It makes multicolour lettering as a picture, not a font file. None of the eight fonts holds colour: each has plain outlines and no colour table. The page paints the colour on, so the picture looks the same in every app.

Which rainbow color font shows the colours best?

Bungee. Its strokes are the thickest of the eight, nearly three times Fredoka's. It is also the widest and has capitals only: the sample line runs one and a half times as long as in Lilita One, so keep it for short words.

Does this rainbow font maker let me pick my own colours?

Two of them. Rainbow's six are fixed. Two-colour fade blends from Letter colour at the top to Outline colour at the foot, and you set both. Under Rainbow, Holographic and Sunset fade, Colours changes only the thin outline.
