Easiest to copy by hand
Patrick Hand, Schoolbell and Comic Neue use one line of even weight, join nothing, and give a and g a single storey, as handwriting does. Leave Great Vibes, Allura and UnifrakturMaguntia for last: their strokes swell and thin, and the scripts join their small letters.
The letters that change most
Small a and g come in two builds. Eight faces, Oswald, Playfair Display and Rye among them, draw the double-storey a and looptail g of book type. In a 2018 study only 1 of 38 people could write a looptail g correctly. Capital I wears bars in Comic Neue and none in Poppins. Cinzel's Q runs its tail under the next letter. A capital G in different fonts has a plain bar in Poppins, a serifed stem in Playfair Display and a loop below the line in Great Vibes.
Tips
- Rows are fitted to the page's width, so narrow Oswald prints nearly twice as tall as Great Vibes. Tap one letter and every face is drawn at one size. Of the letter C fonts, Oswald's is the narrowest.
- Next style changes every row's look: Hollow leaves outlines to colour in or cut out, and Pen weight fattens thin Poiret One and the scripts' hairlines.
- With the box empty, Letter grid on the Sheet menu gives Aa to Zz in one face, and Banner pages one letter a page.
Questions and answers
How do I see the letter B in different fonts?
Tap B b under the tool and capital and small b fill all 24 rows. The letter C in different fonts is the C c chip, and so on to Z. In Cinzel, Cinzel Decorative, Monoton and Permanent Marker the small b is just a smaller capital B.
Which page has the simple, classy and art alphabet fonts?
Page one is the simple fonts alphabet: plain sans, rounded Fredoka, three hands. Page two has the classy alphabet fonts: serifs, thin Poiret One, Roman capitals. Page three has the fancy letter B fonts: scripts, fat faces, a blackletter, spurred Rye. Page four holds the art alphabet fonts: striped, shaded, sketched, marker, typewriter.
Can I copy and paste these letters?
No. Each row is a picture of a real font, named above it. All 24 are in the Google Fonts library, 21 under the SIL Open Font License and three under Apache 2.0. Once a B font style wins, install it and type.
