The words beside the bears

The glosses are Wiktionary's. クマ and 熊 are both kuma, bear. ガオー is a roar, the sound a big animal or a monster makes. 冬眠, tōmin, is hibernation, and 蜂蜜, hachimitsu, is honey. 子熊 is a cub, 白熊 a polar bear, ぬいぐるみ a stuffed toy and もふもふ fluffy.

The left ear ʕ is Latin letter pharyngeal voiced fricative; the right ear ʔ is Latin letter glottal stop. Both are phonetic alphabet letters.

What does ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ mean?

A bear looking at you. ʕ and ʔ are the ears, the bullets are eyes and ᴥ is the muzzle. In the International Phonetic Alphabet ʔ is the glottal stop, which Wikipedia calls the catch in the middle of uh-oh.

What is the ᴥ symbol?

Latin letter ain, U+1D25, from Unicode's Phonetic Extensions block. It is the muzzle in 59 of the 87 faces here. Five use ㉨ instead, which is Circled Hangul cieuc, and 16 have a bracketed muzzle, a katakana e in all but one.

Is there a panda or koala kaomoji?
