How it works

Most of these 105 confused kaomoji show it one of three ways: a question mark, spiral eyes, or two eyes that do not match. Tap one and it is copied. Seventeen need only a keyboard, (?_?) and o_O included.

Ten question marks and one spiral

63 faces hold a question mark, and there are ten kinds. Past the keyboard one come Fullwidth question mark, U+FF1F, Inverted question mark, U+00BF, Interrobang, U+203D, and Reversed question mark, U+2E2E. The eyes in (@_@) are Commercial at, U+0040. (꩜_꩜) uses Cham punctuation spiral, U+AA5C, the one character here named as a spiral.

Tips

Wikipedia's list gives (・・? for confusion, with the bracket left open. It is here both ways, open and shut.
Keyboard only keeps 17 faces. ?_?, @_@ and o_O are three characters each.
⁉ is Exclamation question mark, U+2049, on Unicode's emoji list. ⁈, Question exclamation mark, U+2048, is not.

Questions and answers

What does @_@ mean?

Each at sign is a spiral eye. Wikipedia's list of emoticons files (@_@) under amazed, not confused, so the spin can be a good one. It is the first of 11 faces under Spiral eyes, and searching dizzy finds 12.

How do you type a confused kaomoji on a keyboard?

Open bracket, question mark, underscore, question mark, close bracket: (?_?). For spirals use at signs, (@_@). For one raised eye mix a small o with a capital, (o_O). The Keyboard only chip shows all 17 that need nothing else.

What does o_O mean?

One small eye and one big one. Wikipedia's list of emoticons files o_O under surprised, and its kaomoji article gives it as a face with the brackets left off. It is here with and without them, beside (o_0), where the big eye is a zero.

How this list was compiled: Built by script on 2026-09-19, not typed into the page by hand. The 105 entries are this site's own selection and arrangement: each was put together for this page from the parts a kaomoji is made of (brackets, eyes, a mouth, and a question mark, a pair of spirals or two eyes that do not match). Some are forms in common use that nobody owns. Wikipedia's List of emoticons (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emoticons, read 2026-09-19) gives (・・? and (?_?) for confusion; ((+_+)), (+o+), (°°), (°-°), (°.°), (°_°), (°_°>) and (°レ°) for confused; ＼(°ロ＼) and (／ロ°)／ for questioning; (@_@) and ＼(◎o◎)／！ under amazed; and o_O, o_0 and o.O under surprised. Its ((+_+)) is left out because this family reads doubled brackets as shaking, which is the nervous page's mark.
