How it works
Z is all corners, and rounding eats corners. Drawn too fat, a z in bubble letters closes its two notches and reads as an 8 or an S. These six fonts keep both notches open, capital and small.

Two notches make a Z
A Z is two flat bars and a slope, and what the eye reads is the pair of wedge notches between them. Fredoka comes first: even bars, deep notches. Chango stretches the bars wide. Mochiy Pop One looks brushed, with a flick at the foot. Lilita One stands narrow and upright. Titan One is the heaviest, its notches shallow. Chewy rounds every corner, a handwritten Z.
Still too fat? Slim it
Under Look, Outline draws a slimmer Z with deeper notches, and Hollow is the slimmest, the font's own shape in a thin line. To stay in Bubble, open More options and lower Strength of the look. Pages one and three redraw at once; the drawing steps stay the same.
Tips
- Zigzag keeps both z's sharp in all six fonts. Only Fredoka and Mochiy Pop One keep a and g open.
- Draw the slope first, corner to corner, then add the two bars. The notches come out the same size.
Questions and answers
How do you draw a bubble letter Z?
Pencil a Z of three straight lines. Draw one outline around it, the same distance from the pencil all the way. Round the outer corners but leave the two inside corners as sharp points, then rub out the pencil.
How do you draw a lowercase z in bubble letters?
Small z is the capital's shape made shorter, so there is less room for the two notches and they close sooner. Give it width: Chango's small z is wider than it is tall. Keep the bars thin enough that a wedge shows on each side.
Why does my bubble letter Z look like a 2 or an S?
Curl the top bar and a Z drifts towards a 2, as Chewy shows. Let the two notches close and it reads as an S or an 8. Keep both bars flat and both inside corners sharp.
