A V in bubble letters has one job: keep its notch. Fattening fills the notch from the point up, and a V without one is a heart or a shield. These six fonts keep it open, capital and small.

One notch, six ways
Mochiy Pop One opens the sheet: flat-cut arm tops and the deepest notch. Chango is the wide one. Fredoka rounds its arm tops, so its small v is close to a heart. Baloo 2 is softer, its small v's notch a slit. Chewy, the narrowest, is a petal with a wedge cut in. Lilita One stands on a blunt base.
Heart, shield or U: three ways to lose a V
A fat V is easy to lose. Round arm tops over a shallow notch make a heart. A filled notch under flat tops makes a shield. A notch with a round inside makes a U. So cut the arm tops flat, and bring the two inside lines to a sharp point about halfway down.
Tips
- In Volcano the V keeps its notch in all six fonts. Only Mochiy Pop One keeps both o's wide open.
- Pencil the notch deeper than looks right. The outline grows inward too and takes some of it back.
- Still too fat? Under Look, Outline draws a slimmer V with a deeper notch, and Hollow the slimmest.
Questions and answers
How do you draw a V in bubble letters?
Pencil a thin V. Draw one outline around it, the same distance from the pencil line all the way. Round the bottom and the outer corners, leave the inside point sharp, then rub out the pencil.
How do you draw a lowercase v in bubble letters?
Small v is the capital made shorter, so its notch has less room and closes sooner. Make it wide: Chango's small v is wider than it is tall. Cut the arm tops flat, because a round-topped small v reads as a heart.
What is the difference between a bubble letter V and a U?
The inside. A V's two inner lines meet at a sharp point; a U's run side by side and turn round at the bottom.
How do I print a big bubble letter V?
