How it works
Bubble letters U and u, capital and small, as a three-page set to print. Fattening closes the channel between the two arms, so the six fonts are sorted by how wide that channel stays: three open, three tight.

Why the channel closes
A U is two arms on a half circle, and the look thickens both sides of the channel. In Fredoka, Mochiy Pop One and Bubblegum Sans the channel is about half the letter's width and stays open. Chango keeps a slit beside a left arm nearly twice as thick as the right. Lilita One shows a line under square shoulders. Bagel Fat One pinches shut at the top.
Open a tight channel
Slide Strength of the look down, in More options, and Lilita One's line becomes a channel while Bagel Fat One's pinch opens. Outline and Hollow, under Look, open all six. The drawing steps on page two do not change.
Tips
- In Unicorn, n is u turned over: its arch narrows in the same three fonts as the channel.
- Pencil the two arms further apart than looks right. The outline takes a slice off each side of the channel.
- Give small u a stem down its right side. Without one, a fattened u turns into a heart.
Questions and answers
How do you draw a bubble letter U?
Pencil a thin U with its arms well apart. Trace one line around it at an even distance: down the outside, under the curve, up, over the arm top, then into the channel and out again. Rub out the pencil.
How do you draw a lowercase u in bubble letters?
Draw a shorter U and run a stem down its right side to a small foot. Its channel is shorter than the capital's, so it closes sooner. Mochiy Pop One and Bubblegum Sans keep the channel and add a tail to the foot.
What is the difference between U and V in bubble letters?
The bottom: U ends in a half circle, V in a point. Fattening rounds a V's point, so the arms have to do the work: keep U's arms parallel and let V's lean apart.
Can I print one big U to cut out?
Yes. Under Kind of sheet in More options, Banner pages gives capital U a full sheet and small u the next. U has no enclosed hole, so scissors alone cut it out in one piece.
