How it works
Q in bubble letters is an O with a tail. Once the ring is fat, only the tail tells the two apart. These six fonts hang it below, sit it on the line or run it through the ring.

Three kinds of tail
Lilita One opens the set: its Q is exactly as wide as its O, with a slanted tail hanging below the line. Bagel Fat One hangs a teardrop. Titan One hangs a stub under a hole squeezed to a line, so the tail does all the work. Chango and Chewy keep a bump on the line. Mochiy Pop One runs its tail from inside the hole out through the ring.
Small q is a p turned round
A ring with a straight stem down its right side. Fattening shrinks the eye to a slit or less in five of the six; Mochiy Pop One keeps it open. Type Quiz in Your letters or words and it replaces the pair. Next style moves on to Bagel Fat One.
Tips
- In Queen the tail of Lilita One's Q drops below the row of small letters. Leave room under the line.
- A hand-drawn small q can pass for a g. End the stem with a small flick to the right.
- Drawing the whole alphabet? Pencil O first and copy it for Q, so the two rings match.
Questions and answers
How do you draw a bubble letter Q?
Pencil an O, then a short slanted tail at the lower right that starts on the ring and points away from it. Draw one rounded outline around ring and tail together, add a small oval for the hole and rub out the pencil.
How do you draw a lowercase q in bubble letters?
Pencil a small circle with a straight stem down its right side that carries on below the line. Outline the two as one shape and keep a small oval inside the circle. A stem that curls left turns it into a g.
How do I tell a bubble letter Q from an O?
Only by the tail. In Lilita One, Bagel Fat One and Titan One the Q and the O are exactly the same width. Make your tail as thick as the ring, or the outline swallows it and an O is left.
Is there a Q to trace?
