How it works
O in bubble letters is a fat ring, and the hole is what makes it a letter. Fatten the ring too far and you have drawn a ball. These six fonts keep the hole open, each in a different shape.

It is all about the hole
Fredoka opens the set with a round hole in a round letter, a doughnut. Mochiy Pop One has the biggest hole. Baloo 2 and Lilita One stand an oval upright. Bagel Fat One lays its hole on its side like a coin slot. Chango is the wide one, an egg on its side, much wider than tall, with a small hole right of centre.
The small hole closes first
Small o is the same ring at about three quarters of the height, so there is less hole to lose. Fredoka and Mochiy Pop One still show a ring. The other four are down to a dot, a slit or a dash.
Tips
- Octopus has three holes, in O, o and p. Fredoka and Mochiy Pop One keep all three as rings.
- Chango's O stands a little taller than its H. Round letters drawn to the exact guide lines look small.
Questions and answers
How do you draw the letter O in bubble letters?
Pencil a thin oval. Draw one rounded line outside it and a smaller one inside, each the same distance from the pencil all the way round, then rub the oval out. The inside line is the hole, so stop before it shrinks to a dot.
How do I tell a bubble letter O from a zero?
Make the zero narrower. All six fonts here do, Fredoka most of all. Round for the letter, tall and thin for the number.
Why is the hole in my printed O so small?
The Bubble look fattens the ring inwards as well as outwards, so the hole shrinks. Open More options and slide Strength of the look down, or set Look to Hollow, which keeps the hole exactly as the font drew it.
How do I print one big O to colour in?
Page 3 of the set is a large outline of O and o side by side. For a sheet each, open More options and set Kind of sheet to Banner pages: capital O fills page one and small o page two.
