R in bubble letters is a P that grew a leg. Fattened, it has three things to lose: the hole, the dent at the waist and the gap between its feet. These six fonts keep all three.

Hole, waist, feet
Bubblegum Sans opens the set with the largest hole of the six, a triangle. Mochiy Pop One kicks its leg out for the widest gap between the feet. Bagel Fat One is the roundest, with a flat slot for a hole. Chango is wider than tall, its foot gap a nick. Chewy is narrow. Lilita One keeps a speck of hole.
Small r: a stem and one arm
Small r has no hole to lose. Its arm is the capital's bowl and leg worn down to one arc. Keep the dent under it, or r swells into a blob. Type Rainbow in Your letters or words: four holes, in R, a, b and o. Next style moves on to Mochiy Pop One, which keeps all four round.
Tips
- Draw the hole as a small D against the stem, not a circle. It follows the bowl.
- Short of room? Drop the leg straight down, as Bagel Fat One does. A kicked leg needs a wider R.

How do you draw a bubble letter R?
Pencil a thin P, then a leg from under the bowl down to the line. Go round the whole shape with one rounded outline. Add a small hole inside the bowl, keep a dent where bowl meets leg, and leave a gap between the feet.
How do you draw a lowercase r in bubble letters?
Pencil a short stem and a small arm curving off its top to the right, like the start of an n. Outline both as one shape with a dent beneath the arm. Keep the arm short. There is no hole to draw.
How do I tell the letter R in bubble letters from a P or a B?
By the bottom half. The top halves match. P stands on one foot, R on two with a gap between them, and B has a flat base and a second hole. Fill the gap under an R and it reads as a B.
