How thin each line gets
With Stay strong 8 cm wide, the thin strokes of Monsieur La Doulaise, Herr Von Muellerhoff and Pinyon Script are about a quarter of a millimetre. Oleo Script, Yellowtail and Pacifico, last on page 4, stay over one. For feminine cursive tattoo fonts, start on page 1, the six finest. Next style thickens every stroke, then draws outlines, which only the bold faces carry.
Cursive alphabet, A to Z
Under More options, set Kind of sheet to Letter grid with the box empty: one page of Aa to Zz in Italianno, and Next style walks the other 21 faces. Banner pages prints your line alone, large, in the Font you pick there.
Tips
- At 8 cm wide the words stand 16 mm tall in Oleo Script and Alex Brush, 29 mm in Engagement.
- At that width the eye of e is about 2 mm across in Cookie, Italianno and Tangerine, 0.6 in Meddon.
- All 22 faces have é, ï, ñ, ü and ø. Only seven have ğ, Dancing Script and Lobster among them.
Questions and answers
Which script fonts suit a small, fine-line tattoo?
That is your artist's call. Strokes shrink with the line: at 4 cm wide, page 1's hairlines are between a tenth and a fifth of a millimetre, and Pacifico's stay over half. Print pages 1 and 4 and ask how fine they will go.
Which cursive fonts keep a tattooed name easy to read?
Judge the capital first. Dancing Script, Cookie, Lobster and Engagement keep capitals narrower than tall. Monsieur La Doulaise's average one and a half times as wide as tall, and Mrs Saint Delafield's Y drops four fifths of its height below the line.
How do these fonts draw a cursive N?
Type N n and all 22 rows show it. Sixteen faces keep the pointed N of print. Great Vibes, Alex Brush and Mrs Saint Delafield loop it into a rounded one. Oleo Script, Pacifico and Engagement draw a tall small n.
Can I see the whole ABC in a cursive font?
Yes: Letter grid prints Aa to Zz in one face. They are display scripts, not a school handwriting model, and their capitals disagree. Seven draw Q as a large 2, the cursive form; fifteen close it. Kaushan Script and Yellowtail draw I as one stroke.
