How it works
H in bubble letters is two posts and a bar, and the letter lives in the two gaps, above the bar and below it. Fatten the posts too far and the gaps shut, leaving a pillow. These six keep them.

H lives in its two gaps
Mochiy Pop One opens the set because its gaps are the widest, half the width of the letter. Bagel Fat One keeps two clear slots. Bubblegum Sans leans, and its bar pokes out past the left post. In Lilita One the gaps narrow to dark lines. Chewy is the narrow one and Chango the wide one, and both set the bar low, so the top gap is the deeper.
Small h needs the tall post
Small h is a tall post with an arch leaning on it. In Mochiy Pop One, Bagel Fat One and Bubblegum Sans the post stands about one and a half times as tall as an n. Draw it short and you get an n.
Tips
- Hedgehog has a capital H and a small h. Mochiy Pop One keeps the gaps of both wide open.
- Drawing by hand? Make each gap at least as wide as a post, or the outline closes it.
Questions and answers
How do you draw a bubble letter H?
Pencil two uprights and join them with a bar across the middle. Draw one rounded outline around all three, dipping into the gap at the top and again at the bottom. Stop each dip short of the bar, then rub the pencil out.
How do you draw a lowercase h in bubble letters?
Pencil a tall upright, then an arch that leaves it halfway up and comes down to the line on the right. Go round both in one outline and leave a slot under the arch. Make the upright as tall as your capitals.
How do I tell a small h from an n or a b?
From n by height: only the tall post makes it an h. From b at the bottom: h stands on two feet with a slot between them, while b is closed into a ring.
Why are the gaps in my printed H only lines?
The Bubble look fattens the two posts towards each other, and a narrow gap shuts. Set Look to Hollow, which draws the posts as thin as the font made them, or choose Mochiy Pop One under Font, where the gaps start widest.
